About the prize
Every three years, the head organisations of the German construction industry honour forward-looking and innovative developments with regard to construction equipment, building material machinery, construction processes/works and mining technology with an innovation award.
In 2010, the prize will be awarded for the ninth time in the run up of bauma. bauma is the world’s leading international trade show for construction machinery, building material machinery, mining equipment, construction vehicles and tools. It will take place from 19 April to 25 April, 2010 in Munich.
What’s new in 2010?
The competition has been raised to an international level. For the first time, also companies, universities and research institutes can apply that are based outside Germany.
The prize is not endowed with a prize money.

The prize was designed by students of the department of product design of the University of Design and Art in Offenbach. Headed by Prof. Peter Eckart the three young designers Reinhard Dienes, Sebastian Herkner and Simon Schlör created a cup that consists of a 4 millimetre thick high-grade steel plate. The five different categories are cutted out by laser. |
Each category is characterized by a typical symbol: The wheeled loader stands for machinery, the gear wheel for machinery component, the bridge for construction process/construction work, the gradient for research and the pencil for design.
The winner category stands out from the rest by a polished surface. A laser marking gives an individual touch to the cup.
