Nominees 2019

On 5 September 2018, 50 international and 88 national entries started the competition. 47 of the totals of 138 innovations were already convincing in the preselection. Ten of them come from abroad. Having reached the round of finalists is already an award for the applicants for the bauma Innovation Award. A jury of experts selected the three nominees for the prize in each of the five categories: Machine, Components/Digital Systems, Construction Work/Construction Process/Construcion Method, Science/Research and Design. This is where the companies and institutes introduce themselves.

Liebherr presents a new flat-top series at Bauma, the construction machinery trade fair in Munich. The 370 EC-B 12 Fibre is currently the largest crane in the class. Its unrivalled performance values made possible thanks to the high-tensile fibre rope, many innovative detailed solutions for transport and assembly, and an impressive design are captivating.

Large milling machine with MILL ASSIST

The new cold milling machine from Wirtgen with MILL ASSIST is the first intelligent machine design in the new large milling machine, which is capable of autonomously meeting the operator’s performance and quality requirements. The entire milling process is simulated and optimized in real time based on a comprehensive analysis of all the parameters. This greatly reduces the operator’s workload while significantly improving machine performance and reducing diesel consumption, CO2 emissions, and noise.

Bomag Ion Dust Shield

On construction sites, a lot of visible dust is produced, as well as invisible particulate matter that is harmful to the respiratory tract. This is also the case with cold milling for the removal and subsequent recycling of old road surfaces. With the Ion Dust Shield technology for all cold milling machines from the 1-metre class, Bomag is the first manufacturer to offer a solution that turns dust displacement into dust reduction and thus protects both the operator and the environment.

At several levels in the company, Doka is working on future construction methods One of the latest innovations developed by Doka is DokaXact - a positioning system for highrise projects that provides real-time information and helps site crews to set up the formwork with an accuracy of +/- 2 mm. It is the first interactive sensor-based system for position controls of formwork elements. Designed to ensure certainty of deadlines and costs when building a highrise core, it creates more efficient processes, increases productivity and higher quality of execution.

PAVE-TM Layer Thickness Measurement

PAVE-TM is the world's only system for automatic layer thickness measurement in road construction. The pioneering system for quality improvement constantly displays the thickness of the paved asphalt layer, thus reducing manual measurements and supporting the paving team. The new CSMT-300 ultrasonic sensor, which was developed in-house and specializes in layer thickness, enables precise work at tolerance limits.

Approximately 7% of the electrical energy generated worldwide is used for comminution processes. In most processes, the feed material is just mechanically stressed. The energy efficiency seldom exceeds 1%. An energetically favourable and resource-saving processing of raw materials by means of high-voltage pulse technology has increasingly come into the focus of scientific research in recent years. In particular, the hybrid technology in combination with subsequent mechanical comminution appears to be promising.

Driver guidance 4.0

The project “Construction site 4.0 with the help of AR and BIM” brings an entirely new holography technology to the construction site. The use of BIM data, shown by means of mixed reality data glasses as 3D models overlaying the actual site, offers benefits of many kinds for contractors, OEMs, architects, designers and most of all for machine operators. With the technology, virtual 3D building models, information like access roads, hazard zones and storage areas, quantity and cost data, and other information can be shown superimposed on actual objects using mixed reality devices like the Holo-Lens. This gives operators and site planners all the important construction site information at a glance, without having to look through a sheaf of individual plans.

Defined removal of highly reinforced concrete

Hardly any building can do without reinforced concrete, starting with the foundations, engineering structures such as bridges, tunnels, football arenas and even nuclear power plants. And all concrete structures have one thing in common - the reinforced concrete must be dismantled again at the latest after the end of life. But how can this be done without using staff on site and without changing different tools for the concrete and steel dismantling? And how can we simultaneously minimize environmentally harmful waste and thereby save our resources? A first-time solution to this problem is provided by the "DefAhS" innovation presented below - an attachment for the defined removal of heavy reinforced concrete in one operation, which of course operates remotely.
